SUKKUR: A violent clash between two factions of the Jatoi clan in the Bagargi police jurisdiction has resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, including three brothers and a father and son. The deadly confrontation occurred in the Katcha area of Bagargi, where the rival groups of Meharo Attrani Jatoi and Saeedo Ghulamani Jatoi engaged in a fierce gunfight.
According to police sources, the skirmish was sparked by a longstanding Karo Kari (honor killing) dispute. The violence led to the deaths of Maharo Attrani Jatoi, his brothers Chuttal and Raja, his nephew Wajid Jatoi, Mashooq (son of the deceased Chuttal), and Gulbahar from the Meharo Attrani Jatoi group. Babu Jatoi from the Saeedo Ghulamani Jatoi faction was also killed in the exchange. The police have increased security in the area and initiated a manhunt for the fleeing suspects.
However, the response has largely been a “watch and wait” approach, with the police not taking active measures to halt the ongoing violence. This inaction has led to further panic among local residents. The conflict, rooted in a decades-long feud, has already claimed 20 lives. The bodies of the deceased have been transported to the Civil Hospital Sukkur for post-mortem. The funeral rites for the six victims from the Karim Dino Jatoi faction were held amid tight police security.
