KARACHI: St Patrick’s High School Karachi organized a Sabeel on the occasion of Chehlum (Arbaeen), marking 40 days after the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), to pay tribute to the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala.
The initiative reflected the school’s commitment to compassion, interfaith harmony and service to humanity.
The Sabeel, set up on the school premises, provided chilled drinking water and refreshments to passersby and members of the local community. The initiative highlighted the enduring values associated with Karbala, including faith, justice, sacrifice, generosity and compassion, while encouraging acts of charity and selfless service.
School Principal Rev Fr Mario Rodrigues said Imam Hussain (RA) remained a universal symbol of truth, justice, courage and human dignity. He said the Sabeel was organized to promote peace, mutual respect, unity and service to humanity.
Fr Mario added that throughout the 165-year history of St Patrick’s High School, value-based education had remained central to the institution’s mission. Following the example of his predecessors, he said serving humanity continued to be one of the most important lessons imparted to students.
Teachers, students and support staff actively volunteered during the day, demonstrating the school’s spirit of community engagement, solidarity and interfaith harmony.
St Patrick’s High School continues to pursue its mission of promoting academic excellence while nurturing compassion, responsible citizenship and service through meaningful community initiatives.
