Shehbaz Sharif praised police sacrifices, saying officers remained on the front line against terrorism and crime despite relentless threats

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty, saying their sacrifices had strengthened the country’s fight against terrorism, extremism and crime while helping protect citizens and uphold the rule of law.
In a message issued on Police Martyrs’ Day, observed on Tuesday, the prime minister honored the officers and personnel who laid down their lives for Pakistan, describing them as courageous men and women whose commitment to public service had safeguarded the nation’s peace and security. He said the government and the people of Pakistan remembered their sacrifices with gratitude and respect.
Shehbaz said the police had remained at the forefront of the country’s campaign against militant violence and criminal networks despite facing persistent threats. He said officers had displayed courage, professionalism and determination under difficult circumstances, making vital contributions to maintaining law and order across the country.
He said the sacrifices of police martyrs had played a decisive role in protecting the lives and property of citizens while reinforcing state institutions and preserving public confidence in the justice system. Their services, he added, had helped create a safer environment for future generations and would continue to inspire the nation.
The prime minister also paid tribute to the families of fallen police personnel, acknowledging their patience, resilience and strength. He said their loss was shared by the entire nation and described their sacrifices as an enduring national responsibility. He said the government remained committed to ensuring the welfare of martyrs’ families through education, healthcare and other support measures designed to improve their quality of life.
Shehbaz said the state would continue to provide every possible assistance to the families of those who had sacrificed their lives while performing their duties. He said fulfilling this responsibility remained a sacred obligation of the government.
The prime minister concluded by calling for renewed national unity in support of the rule of law and justice. He said Pakistan must continue its collective efforts to eliminate terrorism and crime while building a peaceful, secure and prosperous country that honored the sacrifices made by its police martyrs.
