ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar spoke with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand on Sunday and exchanged views on the regional situation, including the recently signed Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.
According to a statement shared by Dar, the two foreign ministers discussed developments affecting regional peace and security. Dar briefed Anand on the essence of the Makkah agreement and the joint resolve of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye to contribute to peace, stability and security in the region.
The agreement between the three countries was also discussed in the context of wider regional security concerns. Dar outlined Pakistan’s position and the objectives of the agreement during the conversation. The two ministers also discussed the evolving situation involving the United States and Iran.
Dar also raised the situation in occupied East Jerusalem. He referred to the recent ministerial meeting on Jerusalem held in Jordan and discussed developments concerning the city with his Canadian counterpart.
The foreign ministers also reviewed bilateral engagement and welcomed continued communication between Islamabad and Ottawa. Dar appreciated the frequent exchanges between the two sides and thanked Anand for her recent visit to Pakistan.
The two ministers agreed to remain closely engaged on issues of shared interest. They also reaffirmed the importance of continued diplomatic contact as regional developments remained fluid.
The conversation reflected Pakistan’s efforts to maintain dialogue with international partners on regional security issues while keeping diplomatic engagement open on matters affecting peace and stability.
