KHAIRPUR: A polio booster dose campaign was formally launched in Khairpur district with senior district officials, health authorities and other stakeholders taking part in the inauguration.
Deputy Commissioner Altaf Ahmed Chachar inaugurated the campaign alongside District Health Officer Dr Kaleemullah Sheikh, Assistant Commissioner Khairpur Umamah Solangi, NSTOP and CCO officials, representatives of the Education Department, a school principal and other stakeholders.
During the inauguration, Chachar personally administered oral polio vaccine (OPV) drops and fractional inactivated polio vaccine (fIPV) doses to children, highlighting the district administration’s commitment to polio eradication and routine immunization.
About 150 children were vaccinated or covered during the activity. To make the vaccination experience more welcoming for children, they were given balloons, sweets and small gifts, including geometry boxes, after receiving their vaccines.
The activity also included discussions with parents to raise awareness about timely vaccination, completing recommended vaccine doses and the importance of continued community support for polio eradication.
The deputy commissioner praised vaccination teams for their efforts and urged frontline workers and stakeholders to maintain high standards during the campaign and continue building public confidence in vaccines.
The district health officer and assistant commissioner also administered OPV and fIPV doses, demonstrating joint leadership and ownership of the campaign.
Officials said coordinated efforts by district leadership, skilled vaccination teams and engaged communities were essential to ensuring stronger protection for every child and achieving the goal of a polio-free Pakistan.
