ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Indonesia reaffirmed their commitment on Tuesday to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in key areas and maintain close contact on regional and international developments.
The understanding was reached during a telephone conversation between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono.
The two foreign ministers reviewed bilateral relations and exchanged views on developments of mutual interest. They also discussed regional and international issues, including the evolving situation surrounding US-Iran engagements.
Dar and Sugiono agreed on the importance of maintaining regular high-level contacts to strengthen coordination and deepen understanding between the two countries. They stressed the need to build on existing cooperation and explore further areas of mutual interest.
The discussion also highlighted Pakistan’s role in regional diplomatic efforts. The Indonesian foreign minister appreciated what he described as Pakistan’s constructive and important contribution to promoting dialogue and facilitating efforts aimed at peace and stability.
The appreciation came amid continuing diplomatic engagement over the situation involving the United States and Iran, with regional countries seeking avenues for dialogue and a peaceful resolution of tensions.
Pakistan has maintained that dialogue and diplomacy were essential to addressing international disputes and preventing further escalation. Islamabad has also sought to play a constructive role in supporting diplomatic efforts on regional and international issues.
The two sides agreed that closer coordination would help them respond more effectively to developments affecting regional peace and security. They also reiterated the importance of sustained engagement through diplomatic channels.
The conversation reflected the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Indonesia and their shared interest in expanding cooperation. Both countries have maintained political and diplomatic contacts and have engaged on regional and multilateral issues.
