LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said major projects involving water drainage, sewerage and road construction were being launched across the province under the Punjab Development Program.
Speaking at a meeting with members of the Punjab Assembly from Attock in Lahore, she said the government was focusing on improving basic services and infrastructure across the province.
Maryam Nawaz said the provision of clean drinking water remained among the government’s top priorities. She said the Saaf Paani Project was being implemented to improve access to safe drinking water for people across Punjab.
The chief minister also discussed development activities in Attock with the provincial lawmakers. She said infrastructure projects were being planned and implemented to address longstanding public needs and improve living conditions.
The assembly members welcomed the launch of an electric bus service in Attock. They said the service would provide a more affordable and convenient mode of transport for residents.
They particularly highlighted its potential benefits for women, students and elderly people. The lawmakers said improved public transport could make daily travel easier for people who depended on public services to reach educational institutions, workplaces and other destinations.
The members also praised the Model Village Project, describing it as a major initiative for the development of rural areas. They said the project could help improve basic infrastructure and living conditions in villages while supporting the government’s wider development agenda.
