KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Prisons Ali Hassan Zardari attended a ceremony at the Central Jail and Correctional Facility Karachi as chief guest to mark Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day.
On his arrival, the minister was warmly received by Inspector General of Prisons Fida Hussain Mastoi, DIG Prisons Karachi Range Aslam Malik, DIG Prisons Hyderabad Range Nasir Khan and Central Jail Karachi Senior Superintendent Abdul Karim Abbasi.
The minister formally hoisted a 45-foot-high national flag, following which a jail police contingent presented a salute.
The officials then joined the prison administration at the main ceremony, where they cut an Independence Day cake to mark the occasion.
