BAJAUR: In a decisive operation, Pakistani security forces thwarted an attempted infiltration by a group of Khwarij terrorists, commonly affiliated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), on the night of August 18-19. The intense clash resulted in the death of five terrorists and the martyrdom of three Pakistani soldiers, according to a detailed statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The ISPR’s statement detailed that the terrorists, identified as Khwarij, were trying to cross the Pakistan-Afghanistan border when they were intercepted by the Pakistani security forces. The soldiers engaged the terrorists in a fierce firefight, effectively preventing their incursion into Pakistani territory. The operation was marked by heavy exchanges of gunfire, demonstrating the high level of resistance encountered by the security forces.
During the confrontation, five terrorists were neutralized, and four others sustained injuries. The ISPR’s report described the terrorists as “Khwarij of Fitna al Khwarij,” a term used to refer to extremist factions within the TTP. The successful neutralization of the terrorists was a significant achievement for the Pakistani forces, underscoring their capability and readiness to counter terrorism effectively.
The operation, however, came at a heavy cost. Three Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom while fighting to protect the nation. The fallen soldiers were, including Naik Inayat Khan, aged 36, from District Khyber, Lance Naik Umer Hayat, aged 35, from District Mansehra, and Sepoy Waqar Khan, aged 25, from District Peshawar. Their sacrifice was noted with profound respect, and their bravery was highlighted by the ISPR as emblematic of the courage and commitment of Pakistan’s armed forces.
The ISPR reaffirmed Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to ensure effective border security and management. The statement also emphasized the importance of cooperation with the interim Afghan government to prevent the use of Afghan soil for launching attacks against Pakistan. The military’s media wing highlighted that Pakistan has consistently urged Afghanistan to enhance its border controls and combat terrorism within its territory.
The statement underscored that the sacrifices made by Pakistani soldiers are a testament to their dedication to the nation’s security and sovereignty. The resolve of the security forces, strengthened by the recent sacrifices, remains steadfast in the fight against terrorism. The military’s commitment to safeguarding the borders and ensuring peace within the region continues unabated, despite the challenges posed by terrorist groups.
