KARACHI: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, in collaboration with the German Consulate General Karachi German Consulate General Karachi, organised a special screening of the internationally acclaimed documentary INTERTANGO: A Connection for Life at Studio II, followed by a live tango dance session and introductory lesson for beginners.

The event featured an interactive question-and-answer session with director and screenwriter Hanne Weyh, after which guests were invited to an open dance floor, where tango performances continued through the evening.
The screening was attended by Arts Council President Muhammad Ahmed Shah, German Consul General Thomas E. Schultze and the filmmaker herself. A large gathering of diplomats, artists, cultural figures and art enthusiasts also participated in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Ahmed Shah welcomed the German delegation and said Pakistan and Germany shared strong and long-standing cultural relations. He said cultural exchanges through art, music, literature, theatre and education had played an important role in strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries. He added that such initiatives provided valuable opportunities for young people to engage with different cultures and learn from shared experiences.
German Consul General Thomas E. Schultze said cultural exchange was especially significant as Pakistan and Germany prepared to mark 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2026. He described tango as a universal language and “the language of the heart”, adding that the evening reflected the unifying power of art and dance.
The documentary presented tango as an intercultural phenomenon that transcended geographical and cultural boundaries, following stories of individuals from Japan, Pakistan and Argentina whose lives were connected through their passion for dance.
At the end of the event, Muhammad Ahmed Shah and Thomas E. Schultze presented a bouquet to Hanne Weyh as a gesture of appreciation.
