KARACHI: Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani, senior leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement–Pakistan (MQM-P), led a delegation to meet the newly elected Chairman of the Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI), Muhammad Ikram Rajput, along with other members, at KATI’s office.

The delegation included Vice President of United Business Forum Asim Aizaz, Sultan Tajwani, former Sindh Assembly member Hargun Das, Alshbah Khilji, Akram Kohati, Yasir Ali, Umair Khan, Ahsan Fareed, as well as prominent businessmen Hanif Gohar and Zahid Shah Mir.

Shabbir Qaimkhani congratulated the newly elected chairman and members, emphasizing MQM-P’s recognition of Karachi as not only the country’s largest city but also the economic engine of Pakistan. He highlighted the pivotal role of the city’s industries, business community, and commercial activities in national development, noting that historical neglect has created challenges for industries and limited employment opportunities.

He underscored MQM-P’s commitment to standing with the business community, advocating for the resolution of core issues such as taxation, infrastructure, uninterrupted electricity and gas supply, and security, to ensure the industrial sector thrives and strengthens the national economy. Chairman Ikram Rajput thanked the delegation, noting that KATI has always represented industrialists, traders, and the business class.

Chairman Ikram emphasized that resolving Karachi’s challenges requires all stakeholders, including political parties, to be aligned. He added that sustainable industrial growth depends on coherent policies, continuous support, and confidence, expressing hope that MQM-P would amplify their concerns in legislative forums and contribute to policymaking that facilitates the industrial sector.
