SUKKUR: The Pir Abdul Qadir Shah Jeelani Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Gambat, has successfully completed 140 bone marrow transplants, a milestone hailed by Mayor of Sukkur and Sindh government spokesperson Barrister Arsalan Islam Sheikh.

He congratulated the administration, doctors, and staff, highlighting the contributions of Major General (R) Pervaiz Ahmed, Dr Asghar Ali Kerio, Dr Shehzad Sarwar, Dr Uzair Ahmad, Dr Muhammad Afzal, and Dr Hashim Khan under the supervision of GIMS Director Dr Rahim Bakhsh Bhutto.

Sheikh praised Gambat Institute for its dedication to public service, compassion, and free, quality healthcare for rural Sindh, reflecting the vision of the Pakistan Peoples Party leadership. “Gambat Hospital has brought a new direction to health sector reforms in the province,” he said.

He added that under the leadership of the Sindh Chief Minister, the healthcare system is being modernised rapidly, ensuring international-standard medical facilities for citizens. The institute’s success demonstrates that Sindh is keeping pace with global advancements in modern medicine, setting an example for the province and the country.

Sheikh emphasised the need for similar institutions in every district to provide equal access to healthcare. He said the achievement reflects public trust, government commitment, and the dedication of medical professionals, describing Gambat as a proud national role model.
