KARACHI: The Karachi Women Entrepreneurs Group, led by Shama Rashid, held the fourth edition of the Pinktober Women Festival at the Sindh Governor House, focusing on breast cancer awareness and women’s well-being.
The event opened with the recitation of the Holy Quran and Naat by Nazma Javed. Advisor to the Governor, Tariq Mustafa, conveyed the message of Governor Kamran Tessori, praising Shama Rashid’s efforts in organising the festival.
Shama Rashid highlighted ongoing initiatives to combat breast cancer, stressing the importance of early detection and timely treatment amid rising new cases. Sessions covered women’s mental and physical health, yoga, diet, and fitness, featuring experts including Dr. Samia Asif on breast cancer awareness, Dr. Elia Shah on mental health, Ayesha Khan on yoga and fitness, Dr. Bilquis Sheikh on herbal treatments, and Alia Sarim Burney on women’s rights and parenting.
The festival also included a pink-themed cooking competition judged by Chef Sara Farhan and Chef Shahbaz Hussain, with support from Chughtai Lab. The Pinktober Awards 2025 were presented to Young Entrepreneur Maham Rizwan, Dr. Esther Sohail, and Zaid Packages for their contributions.
The event concluded with a hi-tea session and gift hampers from National Foods and Andaz Foods, reinforcing a collective commitment to combat breast cancer in Pakistan through awareness, early detection, and timely treatment.
