KARACHI: In a harrowing episode that has shaken Karachi’s Gizri neighborhood, a man allegedly killed his wife and young daughter during a domestic dispute, police reported.
The incident, which unfolded in the family’s home, reportedly began with a quarrel between the couple, escalating into violence when the husband, identified as Samiullah, attacked his wife with a sharp weapon. Their daughter, in a desperate attempt to protect her mother, intervened but was also struck during the assault.
Authorities said both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically, they did not survive their injuries. The suspect was promptly taken into custody by Clifton police, who noted that Samiullah had a history of frequent domestic disagreements and had reportedly made repeated allegations against his wife in the past.
Neighbors expressed shock and grief at the events, describing the family as seemingly ordinary but troubled by ongoing tensions. The case has reignited wider concerns about domestic violence in Pakistan, where such incidents often remain hidden behind closed doors.
Law enforcement officials emphasized the need for stronger community awareness and preventive measures to safeguard vulnerable family members and to address conflicts before they turn deadly.
