KARACHI: Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, chairman of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), addressed a packed press conference at Bahadurabad alongside senior party leaders including Mustafa Kamal, Dr Farooq Sattar, Anis Ahmed Qaim, and Syed Amin ul Haq, warning that Pakistan stands at a critical juncture amid political instability.

Dr Siddiqui highlighted the reduction of MQM-P’s 14 seats in Karachi to four in 2018, arguing that the city had been deprived of true representation. Despite this, the party pursued legal and political avenues. He raised concerns over foreign interference in Pakistan’s political affairs and urged the government to monitor and act against those engaged in campaigns damaging the nation.

“This year we have decisively defeated India; now we will also defeat its proxies,” Dr Siddiqui said. He stressed that MQM-P has never placed any leader above the country and reaffirmed its commitment to Pakistan’s sovereignty.

Senior leader Mustafa Kamal defended the armed forces, saying, “The army belongs to the nation, not any single party. It has confronted challenges far beyond its size, shattering India’s regional ambitions and raising the nation’s pride.” He criticized the PTI leadership for attempting to tarnish the military’s reputation internationally and for creating a false narrative of a divide between the armed forces and the public.

Dr Farooq Sattar added that the PTI’s narrative, often orchestrated from jail, was “irrational and harmful to national security and unity.” He criticized PTI leaders for undermining Pakistan’s institutions and questioned their record on key security incidents, including the return of captured Indian pilot Abhinandan following the Pulwama attack.

The press conference was attended by central committee members, provincial and national assembly representatives, and heads of party departments, demonstrating MQM-Pakistan’s united stance on safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and national cohesion.
