ISLAMABAD: Baroness Jenny Chapman, the United Kingdom’s Minister of State for International Development, met with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, in Islamabad on Wednesday to discuss avenues of cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting underscored the ongoing diplomatic engagement aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and addressing matters of mutual concern. During the discussion, Senator Dar highlighted the important role of the Pakistani-British community, describing it as a vital bridge that fosters understanding and collaboration between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.

Dr emphasized the community’s contributions in promoting trade, cultural exchange, and social cohesion, noting that their involvement is central to deepening ties on multiple fronts. The two officials also exchanged views on pressing regional and international developments, with particular attention to ongoing international efforts to promote peace in Gaza.

Both sides acknowledged the significance of coordinated diplomatic approaches in addressing humanitarian and security challenges in the region, stressing the importance of dialogue and multilateral engagement. Baroness Chapman praised Pakistan’s commitment to constructive participation in global development and peace initiatives, while reaffirming the UK’s interest in supporting projects that strengthen governance, human development, and community resilience.

Observers noted that the meeting reflects a continued emphasis on practical cooperation, including the promotion of trade, education, and regional stability, as both nations navigate complex geopolitical and socio-economic challenges. The engagement was widely seen as a reaffirmation of the longstanding ties between Pakistan and the UK, highlighting the importance of sustained dialogue and partnership in addressing shared priorities on both bilateral and international fronts.
