DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The Accreditation and Equivalence Committee of the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC) concluded a two-day evaluation visit to the University of Agriculture, Dera Ismail Khan, to assess the academic standards, infrastructure, and practical training facilities of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences. The visit, officials said, was aimed at reviewing the preparedness of the university to deliver the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program in accordance with national standards.

The committee, formed under an official PVMC notification, included former Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Chaudhry Sarwar, Registrar Shabnam Firdous, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal as Convener, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Dr. Kamal Shah, Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Anwar as Expert Member, along with PVMC administrative support staff. Its mandate covered assessment of faculty performance, examination of infrastructure, and evaluation of research and practical training capabilities.

During the visit, the committee received a detailed briefing from Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shakeeb Ullah, who welcomed the members and highlighted the university’s recent progress in academics, research, and student training. He emphasised the institution’s mission to provide modern scientific knowledge and high-quality professional education to the youth of the region.

The committee conducted an extensive inspection of classrooms, laboratories, clinical training centers, research sections, the library, and student practical training facilities. Separate sessions were held with faculty members and students to gauge teaching quality, research engagement, and hands-on training effectiveness. Members of the PVMC committee praised the university’s structured academic programs, scientific environment, well-equipped laboratories, and the confidence displayed by students in both theoretical and practical fields.

At the conclusion of their visit, the committee expressed satisfaction with the university’s academic discipline, administrative transparency, and overall facilities. A detailed report and recommendations will soon be submitted to the PVMC, which will guide future decisions regarding the DVM program and accreditation status. Observers noted that the University of Agriculture has steadily emerged as a regional hub for modern education and veterinary research.
