SUKKUR: The Medicine Department at Khairpur Medical College (KMC) Khairpur continues to actively engage in academic activities aimed at enhancing the clinical skills and knowledge of postgraduate residents and house officers.

In a recent session, Dr. Muntaha, a house officer, presented a detailed case of abdominal examination, demonstrating her clinical competence and diagnostic reasoning. The case involved hepatosplenomegaly with anemia, and Dr. Muntaha outlined possible differential diagnoses, including Chronic Liver Disease, Chronic Malaria, Leukemia, and Lymphoma.

The session included a viva voce conducted by Dr. Awais Ali Channa, who rigorously assessed Dr. Muntaha’s understanding and ability to defend her diagnostic approach. The proceedings were supervised by Dr. Abdul Hayee Phulpoto, Associate Professor of Medicine, who emphasized the significance of structured academic sessions for clinical training.

Postgraduate residents and fellow house officers actively participated in the session, offering constructive feedback and highlighting minor areas for improvement, while commending Dr. Muntaha’s overall performance. Dr. Phulpoto noted that regular case presentations and viva voce exercises are essential for developing sound clinical judgment and decision-making skills, preparing trainees for the complexities of real-world medical practice.

He added that such academic activities not only enhance knowledge but also strengthen the confidence of young medical professionals, enabling them to approach challenging cases with competence and precision. Postgraduate students echoed this sentiment, recognizing the guidance and mentorship provided by experienced faculty as instrumental in shaping their clinical abilities and professional growth.

The Medicine Department at KMC Khairpur remains committed to fostering a supportive learning environment, ensuring that trainees develop the skills, confidence, and expertise necessary to become capable and conscientious medical practitioners.
