LARKANA: A woman lost her life and 14 people, including children were injured, as roofs and walls of three houses caved in owing to a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder blast at a home in the Labour Colony area of Larkana on Tuesday.
The explosion, according to the police, occurred in the house of Mukhtiar Jatoi. The explosion was so intense that it also damaged the neighbouring houses of Qurban Mugheri and Irfan Rind. Mugheri’s wife Yasmeen died in the incident. Officials at Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute of Trauma confirmed receiving a dead body and 14 injured among whom four children were said to be in serious condition. The doctors were planning to shift them to Karachi.
Sindh government launches crackdown against sale of substandard LPG cylinders after every such tragedy. However, people continue to buy cheap cylinders to save some money at the cost of putting their lives at risk.
