SHAHEED BENAZIRABAD: Police in Shaheed Benazirabad have agreed to take strict action against overloaded and over-dimension vehicles as part of efforts to improve law and order and ensure safer travel on national highways.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the coordination committee chaired by the district’s senior superintendent of police, Shabbir Ahmed Sethar, at his office. The meeting was attended by SP Motorway Police Sakrand Mirza Abid, ASP City Dar Tabish, DSP Traffic Shaheed Benazirabad, DSP Highway Police, assistant commissioner Qazi Ahmed, Chaudhry Arsalan, representatives of HTV transporters and general managers of sugar mills.
Participants held detailed discussions on addressing traffic-related issues, improving the overall law and order situation and further strengthening coordination among relevant agencies. Sethar stressed the need to register first information reports against vehicles found to be overloaded, over-dimension vehicles carrying fodder, and tractor-trolleys transporting sugarcane, saying such measures were essential to maintain safety and order on national highways.
Officials of the National Highway and Motorway Police briefed the meeting on the steps already taken to deal with these issues. Sethar assured the SP Motorway Police Sector Sakrand of full cooperation and immediate support in the event of any emergency situation.
