KARACHI: Several candidates of the United Panel, backed by the Sharjeel Goplani group, have been elected unopposed to key offices in the Karachi Timber Merchants Group for the 2025–26 term, according to an official press release.
Those elected without contest include Hussain Khan Turk as vice-president, Sabir Ali Bangash as general secretary, Sajjad Somro (MPA) as joint secretary, and Shabbir Bhoriwala as finance secretary. The election commission said no nomination papers were filed by rival candidates for these positions within the stipulated timeframe, leading to their unopposed election.
Leaders of the United Panel and members of the timber market trading community congratulated the newly elected office-bearers, expressing hope that the new leadership would play an effective role in improving the Karachi Timber Merchants Group, addressing traders’ issues and contributing to the organization’s development.
The elected representatives thanked the trader community for its confidence and pledged to fulfil their responsibilities with honesty and dedication. A meeting of the United Panel was also held under the chairmanship of Sharjeel Goplani, during which satisfaction was expressed over the post-election situation and congratulations were extended to the newly elected officials.
