The journalist race covers a shorter route from Sukkur Public School to Globe Chowk and back.
Officials highlighted that athletes are participating from Europe, Japan, Africa, Italy, Syria, and other countries. Accommodation, food, and drinks are being provided free for all participants. “This event is more than just a race—it is a celebration of hope, resilience, and the rich spirit of our people,” said Commissioner Qureshi.
The officials urged locals to support the event and cheer on participants, emphasizing that the marathon not only showcases Sindh’s culture to the world but also promotes a message of peace. “The participation of international athletes reflects the world’s trust in Pakistan and Sukkur,” they added.
DIG Pir Muhammad Shah visited the marathon route in advance to ensure it was clear of obstacles and safe for participants. Officials called on the public to contribute to the success of the event by staying close to the track and encouraging the athletes. The marathon is being described as a landmark occasion for Sukkur and Sindh, combining sports, culture, and international goodwill in a single event.
