KARACHI: Bahria University Karachi, under the guidance of environmental expert Dr. Sadaf Faryal Shah, successfully hosted the inaugural Climate Matters Conference 1.0 at the Fatima Jinnah Auditorium. Organized by students of the Media Studies department, the conference focused on “The Green Paradox: Unveiling Harmful Environmental Practices of the Modern Era.”
The event aimed to raise awareness about environmental issues and highlight the role of media in addressing them. It critically examined modern practices that appear eco-friendly but are, in reality, harmful to the environment. Participants and students engaged in meaningful discussions on environmental responsibility, sustainability, and consciousness.
Two distinguished guests from the media industry addressed the audience: Rizwan Jafar, anchor at GTV News, and Nazia Malik, host and anchor. Both speakers emphasized the media’s role in climate awareness, responsible journalism, and promoting public understanding of environmental issues. Their sessions were highly informative and interactive, earning enthusiastic responses from the participants.
Concluding the event, Dr. Sadaf Faryal Shah shared her key insights and announced that the Climate Matters Conference would be held annually.
The conference concluded with a strong message that addressing environmental challenges requires a shared responsibility among individuals, institutions, and media platforms. The seminar successfully highlighted the importance of awareness, dialogue, and practical action for a sustainable and better future.
