DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The district administration in Tank has launched a crackdown on illegal petrol pumps, sealing several unauthorized fuel stations and arresting their owners, officials said.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of the additional assistant commissioner, Malik Sajid Ali Khan, following complaints about illegally established petrol pumps operating in the city and surrounding areas.
Officials said raids were conducted at multiple locations, where petrol pumps found to be operating without licences or failing to meet required safety and quality standards were sealed. Those involved in the violations were taken into custody.
Speaking during the operation, Malik Sajid Ali Khan said illegal petrol pumps posed a serious threat to public safety and caused financial losses to consumers through the sale of substandard fuel. He said the administration would not compromise on the protection of lives and property or on ensuring quality services for the public.
The official added that action against illegal fuel stations would continue without interruption and that those violating the law would be dealt with firmly to ensure the supply of safe and quality petrol.
Residents have welcomed the move and called on the authorities to carry out such operations regularly to eliminate illegal activities from the district.
