KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori, alongside Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, called for national unity in the face of ongoing security and economic challenges at a press conference held at Governor House Karachi.

Governor Tessori emphasized that whenever Pakistan and Islam are at stake, religious groups have historically stood together. He highlighted the need for political and religious forces to unite in support of Pakistan, especially in these critical times. He expressed concern over hostile elements exploiting the concept of Fitna-al-Khawarij against Pakistan, with particular focus on the provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Tessori urged religious scholars to issue clear religious edicts that align with Islamic teachings in addressing the current situation. Furthermore, he called on clerics to remind students in seminaries about Pakistan’s support for Afghanistan during difficult times, including contributions to its education and economic development.

The governor also noted that Pakistan had helped promote Afghan involvement in trade and sports. However, he expressed disappointment that some individuals from Afghanistan were now being used as instruments of the enemy, praying for their guidance. Tessori went on to say that Pakistan had grown stronger under the leadership of army chief Field Marshal Hafiz Syed Asim Munir.

He emphasized that the full benefits of Pakistan’s economic recovery were yet to be realized, and called on political and religious organizations to work together and convey to the public that this was a time for unity, not division, in order to address the ongoing economic crisis.
