RAWALPINDI: Security forces killed 12 militants during intelligence-based operations in different areas of Balochistan as part of the ongoing “Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-3”, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), two separate operations were conducted in Washuk and Mastung districts against militants allegedly linked to the Fitna al-Hindustan network.
The ISPR said the operations were carried out on August 5 and 6 under the ongoing counterterrorism campaign aimed at eliminating terrorist elements involved in attacks and activities threatening national security.
In the first operation conducted in Washuk district on August 5, security forces detected the movement of six militants. The troops launched an immediate operation and killed all six suspects, according to the ISPR.
A second intelligence-based operation was conducted in Mastung district on August 6. The military’s media wing said an intense exchange of fire took place between security forces and militants, resulting in the deaths of another six militants. A militant hideout was also destroyed during the operation.
The ISPR said security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue efforts against what it described as externally supported terrorism under the framework of “Azm-e-Istehkam” and “Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-3”, approved by the federal apex committee under the National Action Plan.
It reiterated that counterterrorism operations would continue without discrimination until the complete elimination of terrorism from the country. The security forces’ operations in Balochistan came amid continued efforts to prevent militant activities and improve stability in the province, where security agencies have conducted intelligence-led actions against armed groups.
