PESHAWAR: Thirty-five new dengue cases have been reported across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the past week, taking the province’s total number of cases recorded this year to 250, according to the provincial health department.
Health officials said no deaths from dengue had been reported in the province so far this year.
Peshawar remains the worst-affected district, with 134 dengue cases confirmed since the beginning of the year, according to the health department.
Authorities said dengue prevention activities were also being carried out across the province. Health teams inspected homes, water containers and other potential mosquito breeding sites in different districts.
The department said dengue larvae found in water were destroyed at 1,488 locations during the inspections as part of efforts to prevent further transmission of the mosquito-borne disease.
Officials have continued surveillance and larva-control activities in areas considered vulnerable to dengue, particularly during the monsoon season when stagnant water can create favourable breeding conditions for mosquitoes.
The health department urged residents to cooperate with prevention teams and take measures to avoid stagnant water around homes and other premises.
