KARACHI: The Sindh Employees Social Security Institution has said a reported case involving employees holding multiple government jobs is the result of its own audit efforts aimed at strengthening transparency and oversight.
In a clarification issued on Thursday, the SESSI said the process was initiated under the direction of Saeed Ghani, the provincial minister for labor and human resources and chair of SESSI’s governing body. The exercise was overseen by commissioner Hadi Bux Kalhoro and his team.
Sources on anonymity revealed that the incumbent management has decided to eradicate corruption and nepotism from the institution. They said some of the employees who used to get extra benefits and other facilities were the most affected and they utilized their contacts in media to carry a “False Flag Operation” against the management.
The sources also declared that Minister Saeed Ghani also advised the management to take strict action against corruption and mismanagement. Meanwhile, a statement issued said that the administration had written to the Sindh auditor general’s office prior to the publication of a recent media report, seeking verification of employee records.
The aim was to establish whether any staff members were simultaneously drawing salaries from other public sector institutions. The review identified 71 employees allegedly involved in dual employment. Officials said departmental proceedings had already been initiated against those concerned. SESSI said the move was part of a broader push to ensure compliance with rules, improve institutional transparency and detect irregularities at an early stage.
