KARACHI: A delegation of the business community led by Dr Danish Aman, chairman of the Pakistan Tanners Association, met federal commerce minister Jam Kamal Khan to discuss key issues facing the leather and export sector.

The meeting was described as productive and focused on trade, exports, industrial growth and the challenges faced by the business community, particularly those linked with the leather industry. Participants discussed ways to strengthen Pakistan’s export potential and improve conditions for industrial development.
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted concerns related to production costs, export competitiveness, and regulatory hurdles affecting the leather sector. They also stressed the need for policy support to help local industries expand into international markets and improve foreign exchange earnings.
Dr Danish Aman briefed the minister on the current performance of the leather industry and its role in exports, and said that targeted reforms and facilitation could significantly enhance sectoral growth.
Jam Kamal Khan assured the delegation that the government was focused on improving the business environment, promoting exports, and addressing the concerns of industrial stakeholders. He said efforts were being made to support value-added industries and strengthen Pakistan’s export base through consistent policy measures.
Both sides agreed on the importance of closer coordination between the government and industry for sustainable industrial growth and export expansion.
