SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A new ambulance service was launched in Makin, Upper South Waziristan, in an effort to improve access to emergency medical care in one of the region’s remote areas.

The service was inaugurated by the Waziristan Welfare Foundation during a ceremony attended by local elders, social activists and community representatives, who described the initiative as an important step towards addressing long standing healthcare challenges.

Organizers said the foundation had carried out several welfare projects in a short period, focusing on agriculture, poverty reduction and healthcare. They said the new initiative aimed to strengthen emergency medical response in an area where difficult terrain and long travel distances often delayed treatment for patients. According to the foundation, three ambulances were provided to serve local communities and improve the transport of patients to medical facilities in urgent cases.
Community leaders, including members of the Mehsud Press Club, attended the event and praised the initiative, saying such efforts were vital for improving basic services in underserved areas. Participants expressed hope that similar projects would continue, saying better emergency transport could make a significant difference to healthcare access across remote parts of Waziristan.
