MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission announced the results of the third phase of the 2026 general elections for the AJK Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, covering constituencies in the Poonch Division.
Awami Dast-o-Baazo Party candidate Sajid Iqbal Abbasi defeated former prime minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan of the Muslim Conference in constituency LA-14 Bagh-I. The result marked a setback for the veteran Muslim Conference leader, who had contested the election from the constituency in the latest round of voting.
In LA-15 Bagh-II, PPP candidate Zia ul Qamar defeated former minister Mushtaq Minhas of the PML-N. The result gave the PPP another victory in the Poonch Division and added to its position in the AJK Legislative Assembly.
The result for LA-16 Bagh-III remained pending. The Election Commission said the result would be announced after re-polling was held at 12 polling stations in the constituency. The re-polling was expected to determine the final outcome of the closely contested seat. The commission had withheld the result until the electoral process at the affected polling stations was completed.
In LA-17 Bagh-IV, AJK Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore of the PPP retained the seat by defeating PML-N candidate Mohsin Aziz. The results from the Poonch Division formed part of the third phase of polling for the AJK Legislative Assembly. The contest had drawn attention because of the participation of several senior political figures, including former prime ministers and ministers.
The Election Commission continued the process of announcing constituency-wise results while completing electoral formalities in areas where polling had not produced a final outcome. The result of LA-16 remained the only outstanding result among the four constituencies covered by the latest announcement, with the final position depending on the outcome of the re-polling at the 12 polling stations.
