KARACHI: The American Business Council of Pakistan (ABC) hosted a high-level US business and congressional delegation in Karachi for discussions aimed at expanding trade, investment and commercial cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.

The visit was facilitated by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and the Government of Pakistan, bringing together members of the US delegation, SIFC representatives, officials from the Pakistan Embassy in the United States and senior representatives of Pakistan’s private sector.
ABC President Akram Wali Muhammad said Pakistan offered significant investment opportunities in technology, energy, minerals, manufacturing and other key sectors. He said the country was increasingly positioned to attract foreign investment, strengthen international partnerships and generate employment opportunities for its young population.
“The time has come to turn dialogue into investment and investment into jobs,” Muhammad said.
Addressing overseas Pakistanis, he encouraged members of the Pakistani diaspora to invest in the country and contribute to economic growth by bringing their experience, ideas and international business networks to Pakistan.
“Come home with your experience, ideas and networks. Build businesses here, invest here and create opportunities for yourselves and Pakistan’s youth. Challenges exist everywhere, but Pakistan has enormous untapped potential,” he said.
Muhammad also appreciated the role of the SIFC and the government in facilitating investors through coordinated efforts. He reaffirmed the American Business Council’s commitment to serving as a bridge between American businesses and Pakistani authorities.
The discussions focused on strengthening commercial links, encouraging greater American investment and identifying opportunities for cooperation across sectors with potential for long-term economic growth.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing their commitment to deepening Pakistan-US economic relations through increased bilateral trade, greater investment and sustainable commercial partnerships.
The visit came as Pakistan continues efforts to attract foreign investment and expand international economic partnerships, with US businesses seen as an important potential source of capital, technology and expertise.
