SUKKUR: A young woman who was a Hafiz-e-Quran was allegedly tortured and shot dead by members of her family in Tando Allahyar in what police are treating as a suspected ‘honor’ killing.
The victim, identified in the first information report as Furwa Qaimkhani, was allegedly killed after being accused of involvement in a so-called Karo Kari case. Police have registered an FIR against her father and brother, while two other relatives have also been nominated for allegedly helping conceal evidence.
According to the FIR registered on behalf of the state, Furwa was subjected to torture before being shot twice with a pistol. Her clothes were allegedly thrown into a canal after the shooting in an attempt to conceal evidence.
Police said they initially received information through the police control room that a girl had been shot in Jinnah Town and was being taken to hospital by relatives. She reportedly died on the way.
