RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to eliminating militancy in Balochistan, saying the country’s armed forces would continue operations against militant groups seeking to undermine peace and stability in the province.
According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the field marshal made the remarks while addressing participants of the 20th National Workshop Balochistan during their visit to the General Headquarters (GHQ).
He said militant organizations operating as proxies for external actors had attempted to spread violence, weaken national cohesion and create instability in Balochistan. However, he maintained that such efforts would not succeed and would be met with a firm and sustained response from Pakistan’s security forces, backed by the unity and determination of the nation.
Field Marshal Munir said the armed forces remained fully committed to restoring lasting peace across the province. He added that intelligence-based and targeted operations against militant groups would continue until the threat posed by terrorism had been effectively addressed.
Speaking about the significance of Balochistan, he described the province as one of Pakistan’s greatest national assets because of its vast natural resources, strategic importance and resilient people. He said the people of Balochistan had consistently demonstrated patriotism and courage despite facing security and development challenges over the years.
He emphasized that the province’s progress and stability were closely linked with Pakistan’s overall prosperity and national security. He said sustained peace would create opportunities for economic growth, development projects and improved living standards for local communities.
The ISPR said the field marshal also highlighted the importance of national unity in confronting security challenges. He said Pakistan’s future depended on collective resolve, resilience and close cooperation between the armed forces, law enforcement agencies and the public.
He reiterated that the armed forces would continue fulfilling their constitutional responsibility to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and protect its citizens from all forms of terrorism. According to the ISPR, he expressed confidence that, with the support of the people, Pakistan would overcome security challenges and ensure enduring peace and stability in Balochistan.
