SUKKUR: Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development (BBS-UTECH), Khairpur Mirs, hosted a delegation of senior officials from the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), Karachi, in a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening links between academia and Pakistan’s nuclear industry.

The visit was described by university officials as an important step towards creating professional opportunities for students and developing stronger cooperation between educational institutions and industry.
The event was held under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof (Meritorious) Dr Rasool Bux Mahar, whose vision and support played a key role in promoting industry linkages and preparing students for competitive career opportunities.
The visiting delegation included Dr Salman Khan, Principal Engineer, Syed Muhammad Haris, Senior Engineer, and Dr Waseem Abbas, Manager Career Counselling, Sindh TEVTA Sukkur. University officials and principals from Sindh TEVTA colleges in Sukkur and Khairpur also attended the event.
The program began with an interactive seminar at the BBS-UTECH Auditorium, where PAEC officials engaged with third-year students and recent DAE graduates from BBS-UTECH and affiliated colleges. The session provided students with insights into career opportunities and professional pathways within the national engineering sector.
Later, a high-level meeting was held between the PAEC delegation and Vice Chancellor Prof (Meritorious) Dr Rasool Bux Mahar at the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat. During the meeting, the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) presented an overview of the university’s capabilities, research initiatives and future plans.
The discussions continued during a luncheon hosted in honor of the visiting officials, further strengthening institutional ties. As part of the traditional Sindhi hospitality, the guests were presented with Ajrak and Topi as a gesture of respect and welcome.
University officials said the visit marked a practical step towards promoting employment opportunities, empowering engineering technologists and providing students with direct access to national-level career prospects.
BBS-UTECH reaffirmed its commitment to expanding industry-academia partnerships and creating opportunities for the professional growth of its students.
