MEHAR: Young activist Naveed Ali Bhand has completed a 15-day bicycle march from Karachi to Sukkur and back, campaigning for the recovery of Priya Kumari, Ajala Parveen Solangi and other missing children from Sindh.
Speaking to journalists at the National Press Club Mehar, Bhand said he had launched the march from Karachi to draw attention to the plight of children reported missing or abducted across the province.
He travelled through Hyderabad, Matiari, Moro, Hala and Naushahro Feroze before reaching Sukkur. On his return journey, he passed through Larkana, Wagan and Nasirabad before arriving in Mehar.
Bhand said the campaign aimed to press for the recovery of missing children and an end to child abductions in Sindh.
He urged people across the province to become aware of their rights and raise their voices for the recovery of missing children. Despite the difficulties of travelling alone, he said, he had remained determined to continue the campaign.
Bhand said he had received considerable support and encouragement from people in the towns and cities along his route. He said he had delivered the same message at each stop: people should break their silence over missing children and violations of citizens’ rights.
He called on the Sindh government and other authorities to ensure the earliest possible recovery of Priya Kumari, Ajala Parveen Solangi and all other abducted children, saying effective action was needed to ease the anxiety and distress of affected families.
