ISLAMABAD: A formal complaint has been submitted to the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA), alleging that a PSQCA field officer demanded a bribe, resorted to blackmail and threatened the complainant after he refused to pay.
According to the written complaint, dated October 3, 2025, the complainant alleged that the officer repeatedly sought illegal gratification in connection with official matters. It further claimed that after the alleged demand was refused, the officer began issuing threats and attempted to pressure the complainant through intimidation.
The complainant requested the Ministry of Science and Technology and the PSQCA to conduct a transparent and impartial inquiry into the allegations, keep his identity confidential and take disciplinary as well as legal action against those found responsible. Copies of the complaint were also sent to senior officials of the ministry and the PSQCA.
Acknowledgement receipts attached to the complaint indicate that it was received by the relevant authorities for processing. No official response from the Ministry of Science and Technology or the PSQCA was available at the time of filing this report. The allegations have not been independently verified.
The complaint comes at a time when employees of the PSQCA are continuing a pen-down strike, protesting what they describe as poor treatment by the management and the non-provision of their legitimate service rights. The protesting workers have demanded that the authorities address their grievances, ensure fair treatment and resolve longstanding administrative issues affecting employees.
