The ambassador thanked Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani for attending, saying the theory put people at the heart of party leadership and governance

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong said on Wednesday that President Xi Jinping’s theory of party building was rooted in what he described as truth and ethical principles, and had placed people’s welfare at the centre of governance.
Speaking at a symposium on Xi Jinping’s party-building theory, Jiang said the Communist Party of China had focused on improving people’s lives by following the principles outlined in the theory.
The ambassador thanked Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani for attending the event and said the theory placed people at the center of party leadership and governance. Jiang said the Communist Party of China was implementing the principles of the theory with the aim of contributing to the wellbeing of people in China and around the world.
Jiang linked the approach to China’s engagement with Pakistan, saying Beijing’s objective through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor was similarly focused on improving conditions across the country.
The ambassador said CPEC had facilitated $29 billion in direct investment in Pakistan. He described the corridor as an important part of the broader bilateral partnership and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Jiang also said President Xi continued to work with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari to strengthen relations between China and Pakistan. He said the changing regional situation showed that the world was entering a new era.
Political parties, he added, were also seeing their roles evolve rapidly as countries responded to new international and domestic challenges. The ambassador said political organisations had an important role in responding to changing circumstances and addressing the needs of people.
Speaking at the symposium, Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani said Pakistan and China shared a decades-old partnership and deep friendship. Gilani said China’s development had attracted the attention of the international community and demonstrated the scale of transformation achieved by the country.
Gilani highlighted the longstanding relationship between Islamabad and Beijing and said the partnership had continued to develop across political, economic and other areas. The symposium provided a platform for discussion on China’s political system and Xi Jinping’s theory of party building, while also highlighting the broader relationship between Pakistan and China.
