TANDO ALLAHYAR: District authorities, supported by law enforcement agencies, have launched a crackdown on alleged wheat hoarding in Tando Allahyar, recovering around 7,000 sacks of wheat and sealing 10 warehouses, officials said.
Deputy Commissioner Noor Mustafa Leghari said wheat hoarding was a criminal offence and accused hoarders of contributing to rising flour prices. He said the sealed warehouses contained approximately 7,000 sacks of wheat and warned that further action would continue against those found violating the law.
However, sources claimed that influential individuals were still holding large wheat stocks at other locations across the district and alleged that no action had yet been taken against them.
Warehouse owners rejected the administration’s actions, describing them as unlawful. They argued that the government had not imposed a ban on wheat storage and said enforcement should focus only on those involved in illegal hoarding.
