DADU: Residents of Ahmed Khan Chandio village in Khairpur Nathan Shah have alleged that attempts are being made to seize their ancestral land and home, claiming they have also received death threats. They appealed to senior police officials to take immediate legal action and provide protection to their family.
Addressing a press conference at the Dadu Press Club, Ustad Nisar Ahmed Chandio, Azad Ali Chandio, Mazhar Ali Chandio and Bilawal Chandio said their family had been living on the property for the past 58 years.
They said the family owned three acres and 20 ghuntas of ancestral land, along with their house in the village. They alleged that several local residents, whom they identified as Jaman Chandio, Saddam, Arif, Irshad, Zahid, Zohaib, Sohail, Shoaib, Arsalan, Soomar, Yasir, Zamin, Kashif and Asad Chandio, were attempting to occupy the property.
The family further alleged that the accused had pressured them over the sale of the land and claimed that, following an alleged attempt to seize the property, armed men attacked their house, opened fire and threatened them with serious consequences.
According to the family, the disputed property is located in Deh Jakhro Thalho, Survey No. 113, and all official land records are available to establish their ownership. Despite this, they alleged they continued to face harassment.
They also claimed that the accused had launched a campaign against them on social media by making what they described as false allegations to damage their reputation. They further alleged that people who had legally purchased land from them were also being threatened.
During the press conference, the family accused the named individuals of being involved in criminal activities and drug trafficking, alleging that they were responsible for creating unrest in the village. They said their own family consisted of respectable citizens, with members serving in government jobs.
The family appealed to the Inspector General of Police Sindh, the Deputy Inspector General of Police Hyderabad and the Senior Superintendent of Police Dadu to take immediate legal action against those allegedly involved in the attempted land grab, firing and threats, and to ensure their safety.
They warned that if any harm came to them or any member of their family, the individuals they had named would be held responsible.
