DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan Division Daud Khan to discuss irrigation rights and the construction of spillways at the Ghasha Sindh site.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the National Highway Authority, the Directorate General of Small Dams, Assistant to Commissioner (Political and Development) Sajjad Baloch, and officials from the Irrigation Department, CRBC, Communication and Works, Flood Division, Rod Kohi and other relevant departments.
During the session, detailed discussions were held on the irrigation rights of farmers in the Rod Luni area of Tehsil Kulachi. Various proposed projects for the construction of spillways at Ghasha Sindh were also reviewed.
Commissioner Daud Khan directed all concerned departments to ensure the protection of farmers’ rights and adopt a coordinated strategy for fair water distribution. He stressed the importance of managing rainwater flow in Rod Kohi areas effectively to prevent damage to agricultural land and to maximise its use for farming.
He further emphasised the need for timely and quality construction of spillways, saying such infrastructure would play an important role in controlling flood situations.
The meeting agreed on improving inter-departmental coordination to speed up ongoing and planned development projects.
The commissioner instructed departments to regularly report progress and immediately inform higher authorities in case of any obstacles.
Officials were also directed to maintain close contact with local communities and farmers to address their concerns and ensure that development benefits reached the grassroots level.
At the conclusion of the meeting, clear timelines were set for the implementation of the decisions taken.
