KARACHI: A doctor was shot dead during an apparent robbery near Teen Talwar in Karachi’s Clifton area after withdrawing Rs5 million from a bank, police said.
The victim was identified as Dr Akash, son of Seth Siro Mal. According to police, he had just withdrawn the cash and was leaving the bank in an Alto car when armed assailants targeted the vehicle nearby.
Police said a security guard at the bank returned fire, but the attackers managed to escape.
Dr Akash sustained critical gunshot wounds in the attack and was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he later died. His body was subsequently shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to identify and arrest the suspects.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Javaid Alam Odho has ordered an inquiry into the fatal shooting of a man in Karachi’s Clifton area after he was attacked while travelling in a car near Teen Talwar.
The police chief also instructed investigators to determine the motive behind the killing and ensure the swift arrest of those responsible.
