FAQIRABAD: Residents of Ward No. 7 of Town Committee Faqirabad held a protest on Friday against what they described as a lack of basic civic facilities and inadequate drainage in the area.
Speaking to the media, protesters including Jam Khan, Ghulam Shabbir Rajpar and others said rainwater had accumulated in the locality, making daily life difficult for residents. They claimed that a young girl had drowned in stagnant rainwater while returning home from school.
The protesters said they had approached Town Committee Faqirabad Chairman Pervez Bhatti and sought immediate action to address the problems, but alleged that no effective measures had been taken.
They also questioned the installation of a flag, which they claimed cost Rs10 million on August 14, while residents continued to face shortages of basic civic services. The protesters called for urgent improvements to drainage, roads and other facilities in Ward No. 7.
