KARACHI: A suspect was arrested in Karachi after authorities uncovered a supply chain involved in distributing fake medicines, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the agency’s anti-corruption circle in Karachi carried out an operation and detained a suspect allegedly involved in supplying counterfeit drugs.
The suspect, identified as Asadullah, was arrested while providing fake medicines, the spokesperson said.
On his identification, a raid was conducted at a warehouse located in the Mithadar area of Karachi, where counterfeit medicines worth millions of rupees were recovered during the operation.
The spokesperson said a seizure memo of the recovered medicines was being prepared by a federal drug inspector.
Legal proceedings were under way to register a case against the suspect, while further investigation was continuing, the spokesperson added.
