Field Marshal Munir said stronger trade links and investment partnerships could drive regional prosperity, strengthen economic cooperation and help build lasting peace

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir said Pakistan’s ongoing structural reforms were aimed at creating a more business-friendly environment and attracting greater foreign investment as he met members of the United States House of Representatives in Rawalpindi on Monday.
The visiting delegation included Congressman Ryan Keith Zinke of Montana and Congressman Michael James of Washington. The meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, regional security, bilateral defence cooperation and opportunities to expand economic collaboration between Pakistan and the United States.
During the discussions, the army chief highlighted Pakistan’s economic potential and said the country was pursuing reforms designed to encourage investment, improve the business climate and strengthen long-term economic growth. He said sustainable regional stability was closely linked to economic development, increased trade and greater regional connectivity.
Field Marshal Munir added that stronger commercial ties and investment could contribute to shared prosperity and reinforce peace across the region. The meeting also reviewed the broader state of Pakistan-US relations and explored ways to deepen cooperation in areas of common interest.
Both sides exchanged views on the regional security situation and discussed the importance of maintaining continued engagement to address evolving challenges through cooperation and dialogue. Recognizing the professional experience and expertise of the visiting lawmakers, the participants explored opportunities to expand bilateral economic engagement, encourage private sector partnerships and strengthen trade links between the two countries.
They discussed the potential for increased collaboration in investment, commerce and institutional cooperation as part of efforts to broaden the relationship beyond traditional areas of engagement. The visiting members of Congress acknowledged Pakistan’s important role in promoting regional stability and recognized the country’s resilience in addressing economic and security challenges.
