KARACHI: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Central Standing Committee on Women Education and Training organized an awareness session marking International Mother’s Day at its head office in Karachi, focusing on the theme of mothers’ role in global peace and unity.
The session, convened by Shamsa-Jabeen Jawed Ahmed, Convener of the Committee, was attended by FPCCI Senior Vice President Saquib Fayyaz Magoon and Vice President Qurat-ul-Ain. The event brought together women entrepreneurs, homemakers, and participants joining both in person and online, reflecting broad engagement with the theme.
Prominent scholar, educator and author Nighat Hashmi, founder of Al-Noor International, attended as guest of honor and addressed the gathering. The discussion centered on the vital role of mothers in shaping compassionate societies, strengthening family values, and fostering peace across generations and nations, with particular emphasis on what speakers described as the foundational influence of motherhood in social development.
Speakers highlighted the challenges faced by working mothers in corporate environments, noting the pressures of balancing professional responsibilities with domestic life. The session also explored the concept of digital parenting, with participants stressing the importance of guiding children in the age of social media and ensuring responsible use of digital platforms to promote ethical values and social cohesion.
Vice President Qurat-ul-Ain also shared reflections on the difficulties working mothers encounter in corporate structures and the need for greater institutional support. Other speakers underscored the idea of mothers as first teachers of compassion and unity, arguing that education and awareness are key to addressing children’s social and psychological development.
