KARACHI: Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi visited Dar-ul-Sukoon and spent time with children with special needs, describing compassion and service to humanity as the true measure of a society.

During his visit, the governor met the children, shared moments of joy with them and expressed affection and care. The children warmly welcomed him and showed their happiness at his presence.

Hashmi later attended a ceremony held at Dar-ul-Sukoon in memory of the late Dr Faisal Nadeem. Addressing the gathering, he praised the sisters working at the institution for their dedication, compassion and commitment in raising and caring for children with special needs.
He especially appreciated Sister Nargis and her team, saying that although many of these children do not have their mothers beside them, the caregivers provide them with love, attention and a sense of security similar to that of a family.
“Today, I had the opportunity to meet these innocent children who welcomed me with selfless love. Their smiles and affection remind us of the true values of humanity, sacrifice and service to others,” the governor said.
The governor said that children with special abilities are a test of society’s compassion and that providing them with education, care, dignity and opportunities is a collective responsibility. He described institutions like Dar-ul-Sukoon as symbols of hope, kindness and humanity, where children are provided with a safe and respectful environment.
Hashmi said societies are not built only through economic progress but also through empathy, generosity and support for vulnerable groups. He stressed the need for people to decide whether they want to remain focused only on personal interests or dedicate part of their lives to serving humanity and improving society.
He assured that he would continue supporting and encouraging organisations working for the welfare of children with special needs and underprivileged communities, saying such efforts help promote compassion, tolerance and social responsibility across society.
