KARACHI: The outgoing Consul General of the Republic of Iraq, Dr Maher Mjhid, was honoured at a farewell dinner in Karachi in recognition of his diplomatic services and efforts to strengthen relations between Pakistan and Iraq.
The event, organised by KHA Business and International Relations, brought together members of the business community, diplomats and representatives from various social sectors.
During the ceremony, prominent businessman and architect Kafeel Hussain presented a commemorative shield to Dr Mjhid in appreciation of his contributions. The presentation was joined by Irfan Soomro, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Liaison Office Karachi, along with Jilani Yousuf and Hayat Khan.
Speakers at the event praised the outgoing consul general’s role in promoting closer ties between the two countries and highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation in trade, investment, business and people-to-people exchanges.
Participants expressed hope that the strong relationship between Pakistan and Iraq would continue to grow through enhanced economic, cultural and diplomatic engagement.
The ceremony concluded with tributes to Dr Maher Mjhid for his diplomatic service and his efforts to strengthen the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Iraq.
