KALAT: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) organised a protest demonstration in Kalat on Tuesday, calling for improved peace and security across Balochistan amid concerns over the province’s law and order situation.
The protest was held outside the Mir Ahmed Yar Khan Press Club under the banner “Give Balochistan Peace”, as part of a province-wide campaign launched by Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan.
The demonstration was led by JI Kalat District Emir Maulana Samiullah and District General Secretary Ghulam Hussain Baloch, with Agha Yasir Khan Ahmedzai, party workers, office-bearers and local residents also taking part.
Protesters carried banners and placards bearing slogans including “Give Balochistan Peace”, “Reject Inflation” and “End the System of Oppression”, while demanding stronger measures to restore law and order in the province.
Addressing the gathering, Maulana Samiullah, Ghulam Hussain Baloch and Agha Yasir Khan Ahmedzai expressed concern over what they described as a rise in violence, targeted killings, kidnappings for ransom and robberies in Balochistan.
The speakers criticised the government’s handling of the security situation, alleging that it had failed to ensure lasting peace and protect citizens. They said the prevailing security challenges had created fear and uncertainty among residents.
The JI leaders said their party would continue to campaign for peace, justice and public safety across the province. They warned that if effective steps were not taken to improve the security situation and safeguard citizens, the protest campaign would be expanded to other parts of Balochistan.
