KARACHI: A local hotel in Karachi hosted a Japanese cuisine weekend as part of its month-long Grand Pan-Asian Food Festival, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Japan.
The event marked the second chapter of the hotel’s culinary series, which was showcasing the food and cultural traditions of different Asian countries. The festival had opened with a weekend dedicated to Chinese cuisine before moving to Japan.
Guests at the Japanese weekend were offered a selection of traditional dishes prepared under the guidance of a Japanese chef. The chef presented authentic flavors and cooking techniques, giving diners an opportunity to experience Japanese cuisine beyond its familiar dishes.
The collaboration with the Consulate General of Japan also added a cultural element to the event. It brought together food, hospitality and Japanese culinary traditions in an informal setting.
The weekend was inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Japan’s Consul General, Hattori, and Deputy Consul General, Tamura. Mövenpick Hotel Karachi GM Muhammad Khurram Awan and CEO Sikander Mehmood were also present.
The gathering was attended by distinguished guests, food enthusiasts and members of the local community. The evening focused on Japanese flavors, presentation and hospitality. Awan said the partnership had allowed the hotel to go beyond serving Japanese food and give guests a better understanding of the culture and traditions behind the cuisine.
The event formed part of the hotel’s “4 Weeks. 4 Culinary Destinations” program. The festival was scheduled to continue with Indonesian and Thai cuisine, completing a month-long celebration of Asian food and culture at the Karachi hotel.
